We the People are rapidly being outsouced to Them the Corpocracy. With one or two exceptions, our elected so-called representatives no longer represent us, but rather represent the corporate bagmen to whom they are indebted to for their jobs. One hopes the recent sea change in the 2006 midtern election may have altered this dismal paradigm. After all, not many of us Joe and Jane Six-packs register as lobbyists on K street. Fort Bush, of course, only spent the last five-plus years on a rampage exacerbating the problem. Whether it’s lying about yellow cake uranium from Niger, lying about nonexistent WMDs in Iraq, starting an illegal war based on these lies, dismissing global climate change as crackpot science, embracing the religious dogma as modern science, authorizing torture at Abu Ghraib, Gitmo and other "extraordinary rendition" venues, undermining the Constitution with the outrageously misleading and misnamed PATRIOT Act, dissing Congressional legislation with “signing statements,” or illegally spying on U. S. citizens in direct contravention of the Congress and the Constitution, the venal Bush Brigade does nothing but crank out misinformation, diversions, divisiveness and fear - all couched behind a wall of impenetrable secrecy. Lately, it seems, Bush really does think he’s king -- at least he certainly acts like one. Yet, surprisingly, the Congress he’s defying just twiddles its collective thumbs rather than impeaching him. Sanity went AWOL in America for almost six years, although - praises be - the results of the election this past November seem to indicate a little hope that sanity found its way back into the sunlight. This book, however, is my response to the outrages of this gang of hooligans - an attempt to cut through the fog of bamboozle, cant and legerdemain so beloved of this administration. My hope for the book is that it provides enough impropriety, waggery and mischief along the way to make the reader’s journey a satisfying one, maybe even - ironically - a pleasant one.
